i-Images: the power of number

On its own, mathematics is a powerful and beautiful science.  It's also the book that scientists have used for millennia to make sense of our world and the universe.  One of the foundations of mathematics is the real number line (RNL), from which infinite rational numbers (and an even greater set of infinite irrational numbers) lie.  Zero, as seen in the first and third image, is the centerpiece of the RNL.  We now know this line stretches toward infinity on the right, negative infinity on the left, as the first and third image allude to.  Pi, the darling of all irrational numbers and the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, lands a little to the right of 3 on the RNL.  More, pi is central to the swing of a pendulum, quantum mechanics and Einstein's field equation.  These images are a first attempt to illustrate the incredible importance, and power and beauty, of numbers.
